TESTIMONIALS
-
Rupert Everett | actor, writer, director
"I’ve had the pleasure of working with Tom on two projects: The Judas Kiss in the theatre and The Happy Prince on screen. He brings a playful and imaginative energy to his characters, while building them in a thoughtful and detailed way, all the while maintaining a consistent professional attitude. Acting alongside, and directing him, in The Happy Prince was a delight, and Tom’s performance brought the character to life with nuance and vitality."
-
DAVID HARE | writer, director
“Tom Colley is an excellent actor and a fine man. From my contact with him when he appeared in my play THE JUDAS KISS, both in London and New York, I would expect any enterprise he launched to combine his three principal characteristics - intelligence, integrity and expertise.”

MARNIE BAXTER | actor, director
“I’ve worked with Tom in both training and professional film environments. As an acting and film teacher, he brings a structured yet innovative approach to guiding actors in discovering and expressing their inner work on camera. His passion for the craft and the industry shines through in his teaching. I also had the pleasure of acting in Tom’s short film, Butcher, and found his direction detailed, insightful, and collaborative. He brings great energy to the set, and as both a director and producer, offers a distinctive and creative perspective on storytelling.”

"I have had the privilege of collaborating with Tom Colley for over twenty years, a relationship that has been exemplary as a professional collaboration. Mr Colley is an actor of remarkable intelligence and flexibility, who absorbs direction with acuity to consistently deliver performances that are both nuanced and powerful. Tom’s work ethic is nothing short of phenomenal; he approaches every project with unwavering dedication, establishing himself as a true role model. His collaborative spirit is a genuine asset - he doesn't just perform, but contributes with immense enthusiasm and always enhances the creative process. I have witnessed this firsthand through the expertly led workshops he conducted in Athens (acting) and Leeds (film acting), where his impeccable preparation fostered an environment that was both challenging and incredibly inspiring for all participants."

MIRIAM LUCIA | actor, writer, intimacy coordinator
“I have known Tom since 2010, when he came to audition for a play festival that I was directing. I knew immediately that he was not only a very gifted actor but also an extraordinary person. He is generous, smart, committed, imaginative, and incredibly hard-working—all the qualities needed to pursue a life in the arts.
Tom is one of the regular and long-standing members of the Clerkenwell Actors Studio, which I have been running since 2009. Not only has Tom been an actor I cast many times in several performances over the years, but he also became someone with whom I closely collaborated. I trusted his opinion and relied on his unwavering commitment to excellence.
His directing and teaching skills were always evident. More than anything, what consistently shone through—whether in class, rehearsals, or performances—was his passion to give it his all. Tom will undoubtedly succeed because he believes in what he is doing and truly cares about it. He is meticulous, intelligent, bold, and patient. A great listener and a fantastic teacher, he is a true friend and someone I would relish working and collaborating with again and again.”

“I had the pleasure and privilege of being taught by Tom for two years. There haven’t been any teachers before or since who have inspired my confidence quite like Tom.
His passion for the subject rubs off on the class whilst his energy (everyday without fail) is infectious.
When attempting something challenging Tom’s support is the correct balance of encouragement and understanding.
The way in which Tom teaches showed me how one should teach, and I’ll always feel indebted to him for believing in me.” -
TINA SCHEI | actor
"I have had the privilege of working with Tom for the last one and a half years as my teacher, collaborator, and coach. Tom´s generosity with his time and knowledge is unmatched. He creates an environment where you feel free to trust your intuition, take risks and push beyond your comfort zone. He instinctively knows when to push and when to be patient, offering the perfect balance of challenge and encouragement. Through our work together - whether on self-tapes or in developing my short film - he has sharpened my storytelling instincts, and helped me craft dimensional characters with truthful and layered performances. He pays attention to everything: my voice, my breath, physicality, intentions, subtext and even personal blockages that might stand in the way of an authentic performance.
Over the years I’ve worked with many coaches, but no one has been able to bring out of me what Tom does, and his belief in me made me believe in myself. He is a mentor, not a crutch, empowering actors to own their craft with confidence. Working with him has made acting feel natural, like living truthfully in the moment. His approach has not only elevated my work, but also strengthened my self-esteem and the way I carry myself as an artist."

He supported me every step of the way during my drama school application process, guiding me, preparing me, and coaching me for the auditions that ultimately helped me secure my place. I’m incredibly grateful for his insight, dedication, and belief in me. I couldn’t recommend him more highly.”

“I worked on set with Tom as director when filming our short film whilst at drama school. From the day we read through the script as a cast you could see Tom’s vision coming to life as he explained to us the details of how the filming would be laid out and what he wanted to achieve in the four days that we worked on set. Tom is a very hands on director and offered much encouragement that helped lift the cast, especially when repeating scenes and needing to keep the energy up. Tom made it a priority to form a good working relationship with each actor before we stepped onto the set, and that continued to grow throughout the days of filming. As a cast member I felt completely safe in the hands of Tom as our director, trusting his judgment on and off set.”

“Tom Colley directed me in the short movie Olio su tela, and I can confidently say he is a director with a deep understanding of a character essence’s. He communicates with precision and empathy, guiding actors not just through actions, but through emotional intention — which elevates the final result on screen.
On set, Tom, radiates energy, professionalism full commitment to the creative process. He inspires trust and a humble deep connection between director and actor, listens, and leads with vision. His direction helped me explore my character beyond the page, shaping a performance I am proud of. Tom is a director with heart, craft, and imagination — someone I would gladly collaborate with again.
I collaborated with Tom Colley as the producer of Olio su tela, with Tom leading the project as director. Though I once was his student, this film represented our first professional partnership: equal roles, shared vision, and a united focus on bringing the story to life.
Tom’s direction reflects an attentive approach to performance while creating space for creativity.
Under his direction, the atmosphere on set was focused, respectful and artistically engaged — qualities essential in independent cinema.
His attitude is impeccable, giving a sense of confidence and awareness, and his skills as a director are second-to-none.
Tom is a director with vision and dedication, and I would gladly continue working with him on future projects.” -
MOLLY OSBORNE | actor
“I was incredibly lucky to have come across Tom Colley’s classes at City Academy in London when I did. Informed, intuitive and present, Tom creates a learning environment that helps one feel safe to play, explore and take creative risks. His presence is dually grounding and exciting. As a young actor, the experience I gained, both in his classes, and as part of his film sets, was invaluable - and his creativity and passion for arts, film and community is a rare and beautiful thing.”

NEIL ARMFIELD | DIRECTOR
“I was privileged to direct Tom Colley in my production of David Hare’s THE JUDAS KISS, where he played Galileo Masconi, opposite Rupert Everett as Oscar Wilde, and Freddie Fox as Lord Alfred Douglas (‘Bosie’), at Hampstead Theatre in 2012 and later at The Duke of York’s in London’s West End in 2013. The production also toured to Bath and Dublin and in 2016 we revived it for seasons in Toronto and New York.
Throughout the life of the production Tom was an imaginative, generous and dedicated artist who remained a rock in the company across its many performances. His diligence and skill earned him the trust and love of all of his colleagues, and I would work again with Tom in a heartbeat.
I wish him well as he pursues the development of his calling in Sicily, and I know that he will proceed with intelligence, grace and integrity.”
